## Getting Started with Templates

Evaluation templates define what gets scored during a store walk. The fastest way to get started is to **install a pre-built template** from the [Template Library](/templates#library).

### Install a Template

Browse the library for templates built for your industry. Click "Install" to add one to your organization. Installed templates appear under [Your Templates](/templates#your-templates) where you can customize them.

### Template Structure

Each template contains:
- **Sections** — logical groupings like "Cleanliness", "Customer Service", "Safety"
- **Criteria** — individual items to score within each section
- **Point values** — maximum points per criterion
- **Section weights** — percentage weight for each section's contribution to the total score

You can have multiple templates for different evaluation types (e.g., full audit vs. quick check). Edit any installed template to add, remove, or reorder sections and criteria to match your needs.

## Configuring Criteria

Each criterion can include:
- **Name & description** — what the evaluator is looking for
- **Max points** — the highest score possible
- **Scoring guidance** — instructions for how to assign points consistently
- **SOP reference** — link to relevant standard operating procedures
